I’ve Got It Covered Hardback Book Printing

A printed record of creative collaboration, fit for exhibition

At Page Bros, we work with customers to turn artwork into beautifully finished print.

That was exactly the case with I’ve Got It Covered. A large format hardback book created by Lisa Sheehan to accompany her exhibition of the same name at The Coningsby Gallery in London.

The publication brings together over five years of editorial magazine cover work, preserving each cover as it originally appeared in print without any retrospective editing. Rather than creating a traditional portfolio, the aim was to produce something that felt more like an archive of the printed work, the publications, and the collaborations behind it.

These collaborations include reflections from art directors involved in the original commissions, with contributions from titles such as The Guardian, de Volkskrant, The Sunday Times, The Economist and The New York Times. This makes the book more than a collection of covers.

Read collectively, it becomes an unintended record of how the author’s work responded to events, constraints and context. By using the form of the book itself, the publication reflects the realities of editorial production and the shared nature of authorship.

Our role was to help bring this concept to life in a format that felt premium, durable and true to the original publications.

A book produced for exhibition and beyond

Because I’ve Got It Covered was created to sit alongside an exhibition, it needed to do more than simply look good on the page. From the start, this project needed to feel substantial.

It had to work as an exhibition companion, a takeaway object, and a printed piece that people would want to keep. That meant the production values needed to be right across the entire printing process: from the binding and paper choice through to the finishing on the cover.

This is where print really comes into its own. When produced well, a book like this doesn’t just document a body of work – it gives it permanence.

That’s something we care deeply about at Page Bros. We support projects from initial concept through to final production, helping customers choose the right materials, finishes and print processes to achieve the very best results.

A hardback book designed to make an impact

A big part of this project was making sure Lisa could achieve exactly the book she had in mind.

Because the book centred around editorial cover design, it was important that the format gave the work enough space on the page while also creating a strong physical presence. Working closely with Lisa, we produced the title as a large format sewn casebound hardback, helping create a finished product that felt both professional and lasting.

Hardback book printing often involves a lot of moving parts, from format and pagination through to binding, materials and finishing. By working closely together throughout the process, we were able to help ensure the final product stayed true to the original vision while also delivering the quality expected of a premium printed publication.

In the details

The final book was 248 pages, all full colour and printed on 170gsm silk stock with a spot UV applied to the front cover.

Lisa wanted the title to stand out from the background, so a Spot UV was the perfect choice. Spot UV adds a subtle gloss finish, giving the cover an extra level of depth and visual impact.

It’s a detail that works especially well on projects like this, where the physical quality of the book is just as important as the content inside.

Together, these print and finishing choices helped create a publication that felt bold and of high quality, sure to make an impression in the exhibition setting it was intended for.

Working with Page Bros was amazing. I had contacted a few printers but Matt was super helpful, I felt confident that I would achieve the book I had envisaged. I was able to have my book exactly as I wanted it - large format case bound. Page Bros made this affordable and everything went like clockwork, the final product has had amazing feedback for its quality.

The finished result

The final book is an impressive large format hardback that looks every bit as considered as the work inside it.

From the sewn casebound format to the Spot UV cover finish, every part of the specification was chosen to support the overall idea and create a publication that feels substantial, refined and built to last.

It’s a great example of how the right print specification can help elevate a creative project and turn it into something with real presence.

The cover design went on to receive a Communication Arts Award, recognising the strength of its concept and execution.
