POLICIES
Environmental Policy
Page Bros recognises the importance of environmental issues and is committed to environmental preservation. These considerations are considered at all stages of business planning, purchasing, development, production and marketing whilst continuing to produce high quality products to our customers’ specification and satisfaction. Our environmental policy is a keystone of our system for setting objectives for continual improvement and the reduction of our impact on the environment, resource availability and climate change.
Page Bros are also committed to the principles of sustainability and support the aims of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes (PEFC). Page Bros operates to the international standard ISO BS EN 14001:2015.
In particular, the following objectives will be pursued as far as is reasonably practicable:
- To ensure compliance with applicable environmental legislation.
- To minimise consumption of all raw materials used, including fuel and energy. We have developed a baseline of emissions and energy drawn down. We measure progress in terms of reduced emissions and energy drawn down. We collate quantitative environmental data that are traceable to site operations and from supply chain.
- To minimise waste in production and packaging and ensure that any waste generated is labelled, stored and disposed of correctly and recycled where practicable.
- To reduce the amount of organic solvents and other chemicals in the workplace and endeavor to prevent emissions to the atmosphere.
- To provide safe, clean and hygienic working conditions.
- To reduce noise levels to the lowest levels practicable for employees and members of the public. We also engage qualified external professionals to measure and advise.
- To develop systems to minimise environmental pollutants.
- To align deliveries and sales calls to reduce transport costs and energy consumption.
- To develop systems for the responsible purchase, development, operation and maintenance of plant and associated processes to reflect the principles above and demonstrate our commitment to good practice and benign corporate and social governance.
- To promote the use of papers approved by the FSC and PEFC. In particular, we only use recycled paper made from post-consumer waste and virgin stock from controlled legal sources. We use the chain of custody process approved by the FSC and PEFC, and are subject to an external audit to verify our compliance with this management system.
This policy is implemented by the Board of Page Bros, who are accountable for upholding these principles. Reference can be made to the following documents, which describe how this will be achieved:-
- Legal Register (shows the framework of regulations which we must follow)
- Aspects Register (sets out the causes of negative environmental impact, we must manage)
- Management Programme (a systematic process to quantify and qualify aspects and impacts and control these)
This policy and progress against it will be reviewed at least annually by the Board through a Management Review, in addition to the independent external auditing programme.
